In Menton

Welcome to Menton!

Menton is a charming and authentic town located on the French Riviera, situated between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, at the Italian border.

Menton is famous for its fragrant and flavorful lemon, dubbed “the caviar of the Riviera,” which is celebrated with the renowned Fête du Citron carnival parade every February. The Menton lemon brings a bright citrus taste to local tartes au citron and limoncello liquor, and its quality is internationally recognized and protected as a unique regional specialty (Indication Géographique Protégée).

In addition to its lemon specialties, the region of Menton offers a rich and varied culinary experience influenced both by traditional Provençal and Italian cuisines. These include the local specialties pichade, barbajuan and pissaladière as well as charcuterie, white truffles and Provençal wines.

The cuisine of Menton is so delicious and unique that we decided to curate a bespoke Gourmet Menton Food & Wine Tour, featuring the best dishes, chefs and restaurants our region has to offer!

    • Pichade : Pichade is a kind of pizza made with fresh tomatoes, onions and aromatic herbs. The crust is crispy and the topping is flavored with thyme and anchovies, and is a pure delight!
    • Pissaladière : Pissaladière is a delicious tart made with a thin dough and topped with caramelized onions, black olives and anchovies. The combination of sweet, savory and slightly salty flavors make it a beloved local specialty.
    • Barbajuan : Barbajuan is a deep-fried turnover made with thin dough and filled with a mixture of ricotta cheese, parmesan, herbs de Provence and Swiss chard.
    • White truffle : The white truffle from Alba is one of the most prized and sought-after truffle varieties in the world! Alba is a city in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy and is well-known for the finest white truffles, which are used to flavor oils and tapenades.
    • Charcuterie & wines : Italy and France provide a large range of charcuterie. Combined with natural wines of Provence, you will experience the real art of the “French apéro.”
    • Pistachio cream : Pistachio cream, also known as pistachio paste or pistachio butter, is a rich and flavorful spread made from ground pistachio nuts. It has a smooth and creamy texture and a distinct nutty taste. Pistachios come from Italy but were once harvested in Provence.
    • Tarte au citron : Tarte au Citron (lemon pie) is a classic desert from Menton that is beloved for its bright citrus flavor and contrasting textures. You will fall in love with the one that we selected for you!
    • Artisanal ice-cream : We have selected an ice-cream maker that only uses high-quality fruits and natural ingredients from the region. Let’s try the “Mentonnaise” flavor!
    • Limoncello : Limoncello is a popular Italian liquor that is traditionally made from the zest of lemons, alcohol, water and sugar. It is commonly used as a digestif and is served chilled in small glasses. The one we have in Menton is made from high-quality local lemons!
